FROM “DOES THIS COUNT?” TO A CLEAR NEXT STEP

You don’t need another
tab open. You need a plan.

It’s easy to get stuck between a bank statement, an unfamiliar FAFSA question, and advice that wasn’t written for your situation.

This playbook brings the work into one place: identify the owner, organise the balances, flag what needs clarification, and keep track of what happens next.

WHAT YOU’LL WALK AWAY WITH

More than information.
Something to work through.

01 / GET ORGANISED

An asset inventory you can explain.

Work through cash, investments, education savings, property, and excluded balances. Record ownership and the questions you still need answered.

02 / MOVE FORWARD

A filing plan with a next step.

Bring your deadlines, contributors, records, and follow-up tasks together. Use the checklist before you file and after you submit.

03 / ASK BETTER QUESTIONS

A more useful college conversation.

Prepare for corrections or changed circumstances, adapt the sample email, and compare the grants, loans, and remaining costs in real aid offers.

A REAL EXCERPT FROM CHAPTER TWO

Start with the account.
Then ask the right questions.

“Record the legal owner, account type, beneficiary where relevant, and the balance or net value. Then decide how the official instructions treat it.”

That’s the approach throughout: a plain-language explanation, followed by a practical way to apply it to your preparation.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you decide.

Is this different from the free scan?

Yes. The scan illustrates the asset amounts you enter. The playbook is a separate educational guide with explanations, worksheets, a filing checklist, and school-conversation tools.

What do I receive, and how do I access it?

You get the 2027–28 digital playbook in your existing Elera Rowan account after payment is confirmed. Read it online and fill in its worksheets, or download the printable PDF. Worksheet entries stay on the page unless you choose to remember them on your device; they do not sync between devices. Print the online page to keep your completed work. A printed book is not shipped.

Will this get me more financial aid?

No guide can promise an aid award. This playbook helps you organise accurate information and prepare questions. It does not calculate your full Student Aid Index, submit FAFSA, or provide individual financial advice.

Do I need to pay to complete FAFSA?

No. FAFSA and help from your school’s financial aid office are free. This is an optional, independent resource for people who want a structured guide and worksheets.
