This stat about Black professionals in tech really stuck with me

I know this sounds silly but I literally had to read that three percent number twice because I couldn't believe it was that low. The part that got me most was how they described it as a mirror reflecting opportunities lost and innovations the world will never see, because that's so real and it made me think about all the brilliant people who probably never even tried STEM because they didn't see themselves represented. Maybe someone else feels this way too, but seeing these conversations about who gets a seat at the table actually makes me feel less alone in my own doubts about whether I belong in these spaces. I'm still figuring out if I can do this whole career switch thing, but reading that people are talking about changing these numbers gives me a tiny bit of hope that things might actually be different for people coming up now than they were before.
